artist's statement

I create works out of my experiences. Whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual, these experiences shape my perception of the world and, in turn, shape the context of my works. Through shaping my own human experience into a tangible form, I allow others to come be a part of it, and ultimately allow myself to better comprehend it.
I create works focusing on my relationship with God, and my contemplation of spirituality. In this way my work and process become a continuous prayer seeking understanding, guidance and change, and expanding the conversation from just artist and viewer to something bigger. My struggle in accomplishing this is finding the compromise between creating a strict non-fictional narrative for the viewer to read, and writing a more open-ended prose for the viewer to interpret.
